Allen backs Liverpool to 'go from strength to strength' under Rodgers

Joe Allen has claimed the chance to link up again with Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool was too good to turn down.

And he is confident the former Swansea boss is the man to lead the club back to the glory days again.

The Welsh midfielder sealed a switch to Anfield for a fee reportedly in the region of £15m and he wasted no time in backing the club to achieve big things under the management of Rodgers.

Allen, who helped Swansea to Premier League survival with Rodgers last season, insists Liverpool can go from strength to strength in the next couple of seasons.

"To join back up with him was definitely a big pull for me," said Allen. "Brendan is so passionate about his football. He works day in, day out to improve the team and everyone individually.

"Everyone wants to work alongside someone who has that way about them. One of his best things is his man management. He commands the respect of everyone.

"I have a lot of faith that Brendan can bring success. I wanted to be part of this project and I've really got a good feeling this football club is going to go from strength to strength in the next couple of seasons."
