Barcelona stories are 'complete nonsense', insist Drogba's camp

Didier Drogba has denied he is about to make a sensational switch to Barcelona.

The former Chelsea striker has agreed to join Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua, but stories emerged on Monday claiming he would renege on that deal to join the Catalan giants.

But Drogba's spokesperson has told talkSPORT the Ivory Coast forward will not be moving to Spain and will honour his two-year contract with Shenhua, which starts next month.

“The story about Didier moving to Barcelona is complete nonsense. As we told you, he will be moving to Shanghai in July on a two-year contract.”

Drogba, 34, became a free agent after eight years at Stamford Bridge, where he completed a clean sweep of trophies. His final act as a Chelsea player was the winning kick in the Champions League final penalty shoot-out against Bayern Munich in May.
