Newcastle have launched an audacious attempt to re-sign Andy Carroll on a season long-loan with a view to a permanent deal.
Carroll left St James’ Park for Liverpool in a deal worth £35m in January last year but has failed to fully establish himself in the first-team.
And now Alan Pardew is attempting to bring the England international back to his home-town club.
A host of other sides have been linked with Carroll’s signature this summer including AC Milan and West Ham.
But given the choice Carroll may favour a return to the club where he came through the ranks and made a name for himself.
