Manchester United could miss out on Brazilian starlet Lucas Moura after Inter Milan stepped up their efforts to land to the Sao Paulo midfielder.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been heavily linked with a move for Moura, 19, over the past few months, and his side were thought to have had a bid rejected for him last month.
However, Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Inter Milan are in advanced negotiations over the transfer of the 19-year-old.
Marco Branca, head of the technical staff at Inter, is currently in Brazil to meet with the Sao Paulo president Juvenal Juvencio to discuss his side's £20m offer for Moura.
And Ferguson could return with another offer after United's chief operating officer revealed that the Old Trafford boss has £40m left in his transfer kitty this summer.
