Roberto Di Matteo has rubbished speculation that Daniel Sturridge could be headed for the Chelsea exit this summer.
Following the club’s summer spending spree on attacking players, which so far includes Eden Hazard, Oscar and Marko Marin, Sturridge’s future at Stamford Bridge has been called into question.
And with moves for Hulk, Victor Moses or Andre Schurrle still a possibility before the transfer window closes the 22-year-old England striker has been linked a move to either Tottenham or Liverpool in order to find first-team football.
But Di Matteo has claimed Sturridge has a big part to play for Chelsea this season.
"I see him as part of my plans, absolutely,” the Champions League winning manager said.
"He's part of the squad and the team, and still has a lot to give.
"He still has a lot to learn as well, but we're hopeful he can develop even more and become a fantastic and great player for us."
